About Dental Tourism
5 questions
Is dental tourism safe?
Yes — when done correctly, with rigorously vetted clinics, and with the right support structure in place. The risks in dental tourism are real, but they are manageable. Most problems arise when patients book clinics without vetting, prioritize price above all else, or travel without any support system.

We address this by visiting every clinic in our network in person before any partnership begins. We review credentials, audit technology and sterilization protocols, and monitor ongoing patient feedback. We also stay in contact with you throughout your trip. Risks still exist — no medical procedure is risk-free anywhere — but our approach is designed to reduce them to the minimum possible.
Are the materials the same quality as in the US?
Yes. Our partner clinics use the same premium materials as top US practices. Implants are Nobel Biocare and Straumann — the two most widely trusted implant brands in the world, used by elite practices in New York, Los Angeles, and Houston. Veneers and crowns are fabricated in E.max ceramic (lithium disilicate), the same material used by cosmetic dentists charging $2,000+ per tooth in the US.

What's different is not the materials — it's the cost of living, overhead, and malpractice environment in Guatemala vs. the United States. The dentistry itself is the same standard.
What if something goes wrong after I return home?
This is one of the most important questions to ask, and we're glad you're asking it. Our partner clinics provide written warranties on their work — typically 1–5 years depending on the procedure — and will communicate directly with a US dentist if something needs to be addressed locally.

True complications are rare when treatment is done correctly. But if something arises: (1) contact us immediately via WhatsApp, (2) we'll connect you with the clinic for guidance, and (3) if local treatment is needed, the clinic will cover costs for warranty-covered issues. We do post-trip follow-up calls at 1 week and 1 month to catch anything early. We stay in contact — we don't disappear once you're home.
Is dental tourism right for everyone?
No — and we'll tell you directly if it isn't right for your situation. Dental tourism is not appropriate for patients with complex uncontrolled medical conditions (uncontrolled diabetes, recent cardiac events, active cancer treatment), those who are unable to travel safely, or those needing true emergency dental care.

Some cases are also too complex for a single trip and require careful staging across multiple visits. We assess each patient individually. If we don't think dental tourism is the right call for you, we say so on the discovery call — no charge, no sales pressure, just an honest answer.
How is quality maintained at clinics abroad?
Through three layers: dentist training, technology standards, and ongoing monitoring.

Our partner dentists hold post-graduate training from accredited programs — many in the US, Mexico, or Europe. We audit technology on each visit (CBCT imaging, digital scanning, CAD/CAM milling). And we monitor patient outcomes and feedback continuously — if a clinic's performance slips, we remove them from our network. Quality isn't assumed. It's verified and re-verified.

About Our Process
5 questions
What happens on the free discovery call?
30 minutes, Zoom or phone, your choice. No sales pitch. No pressure.

We review your dental situation — what work you need, what US dentists have told you, any concerns or medical history relevant to treatment. We give you a real cost estimate for your specific case (not a vague "50–80% savings" headline). We explain what a trip would look like, answer every question you have, and tell you honestly whether we think dental tourism is the right fit. If it's not, we'll say so. The call is genuinely free — no credit card, no obligation.
Do I need dental X-rays before the call?
Not required for the discovery call — we can have a meaningful conversation and give a general estimate without them. However, X-rays (and a US dentist's treatment plan if you have one) are very helpful. The more information we have, the more accurate your estimate will be.

Before your treatment plan can be finalized by the partner clinic, you will need to share X-rays. If you don't have current ones, the clinic can take them on arrival.
How long does the whole process take from call to treatment?
Typically 2–6 weeks from first call to traveling, depending on your schedule, treatment complexity, and how quickly you can share X-rays and confirm details.

The discovery call and treatment planning phase usually takes 1–2 weeks. Flight booking and logistics are handled in parallel. Most patients are traveling within a month of their first call. If you have a time-sensitive reason to move faster, let us know — we can often accommodate.
What languages do the partner dentists speak?
All partner clinic dentists speak English fluently. This is a non-negotiable requirement for inclusion in our network. Many trained at universities in the United States, Mexico City, or Europe, and are fully comfortable conducting treatment consultations, explaining procedures, and answering questions in English. You will always understand what's happening and why.
Can I see the clinic before committing?
We can share clinic photos, virtual tours (where available), patient testimonials, and detailed information about the clinic and dentist — including their training credentials and specializations.

We do not offer pre-booking clinic visits, but we have personally visited every clinic we recommend. When we describe a clinic to you, it's based on our own firsthand experience — not a website, not a brochure. We stand behind these recommendations with our reputation.

About the Clinics
5 questions
How do you choose partner clinics?
Every clinic in our network has been visited in person by a member of our team. During our evaluation, we review: dentist credentials and post-graduate training, technology (imaging, scanning, CAD/CAM), sterilization and infection control protocols, patient communication practices, and the physical environment of the clinic.

We also monitor patient outcomes and feedback on an ongoing basis. Clinics don't earn a permanent spot on our roster — if performance declines, we remove them. We've turned down several clinic partnership requests because they didn't meet our standard.
What implant brands do you use?
Our partner clinics use Nobel Biocare and Straumann implants — the two most widely used, most studied, and most trusted implant systems in the world. These are the same brands you'd find at a top-tier implant specialist in Dallas, Miami, or Chicago.

We do not work with clinics that use "budget" or unbranded implant systems. The implant is the part that lives in your jaw for the rest of your life — it is not the place to save money at the expense of quality.
What about sterilization and cleanliness?
During our in-person clinic evaluations, we specifically audit sterilization procedures: autoclave sterilization of instruments, single-use policy for needles and disposables, barrier techniques, surface disinfection protocols, and overall clinic hygiene.

The standard we hold our clinics to is not "acceptable for abroad" — it is clinically rigorous. Any clinic that does not pass this audit is not in our network, regardless of their price or reputation.
Will my dentist speak English?
Yes, without exception. English fluency is a hard requirement for any dentist in our partner network. You will be able to discuss your treatment, ask questions, raise concerns, and receive explanations — in English — throughout every appointment. No language barrier, no guesswork.
Can I request a specific clinic or dentist?
Yes. If you have seen information about a specific clinic or dentist in our network and have a preference, let us know and we'll do our best to accommodate. We typically match patients to clinics based on treatment type and complexity, location preference (Guatemala City vs. Antigua), and any specific needs or concerns you've shared.

We're happy to discuss your options openly — there's no hidden reason we'd steer you toward one clinic over another.

About Costs & Fees
5 questions
How much does the coordination fee cost?
We offer three tiers of coordination service, each paid as a one-time flat fee separate from dental treatment costs:

Essential — $500: Clinic matching, treatment plan facilitation, written cost estimate, pre-trip packet, 1-week post-trip follow-up.
Signature — $1,000: Everything in Essential plus full travel coordination (flights, hotel, airport pickup, day-by-day itinerary, WhatsApp support throughout).
Elite — $1,500: Everything in Signature plus dedicated in-country coordinator, daily clinic escorts, on-site translation, spa and leisure planning, 24/7 emergency support, and Phase 2 trip planning.

The discovery call is free regardless of which package you choose — or don't choose.
How do I pay for the dental treatment itself?
Dental treatment is paid directly to the clinic in Guatemala — not to Signature Smile. Most partner clinics accept US cash, major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard), and wire transfer. We'll confirm accepted payment methods for your specific clinic during the planning phase.

Many patients prefer to bring US cash, as it's universally accepted and avoids any credit card foreign transaction fees.
Are there hidden fees I should know about?
No hidden fees. Our coordination fee is disclosed upfront. Dental treatment costs are itemized in writing by the clinic before you commit. Flights, hotel, and meals are separate expenses you pay directly, and we give you realistic estimates for all of them.

The only scenario where costs change is if your treatment needs turn out to be more complex than initially assessed — and in that case, the clinic will communicate the change and get your agreement before proceeding with anything additional.
Do you receive a commission from the clinics?
No. We are paid exclusively by our clients — the coordination fee you pay us. We do not receive referral fees, commissions, or kickbacks from partner clinics.

This matters because it means our clinic recommendations are not influenced by financial incentives. We recommend the clinic that is right for your case — not the one that pays us more. If you ever want to verify this, ask us directly and we'll answer plainly.
Can I get a refund if I need to cancel?
Partial refunds are possible depending on when you cancel and how much coordination work has already been completed. We handle this on a case-by-case basis and are fair about it — we've never charged someone for work we hadn't done.

We discuss refund terms during onboarding so there are no surprises. Life happens, and we understand that plans change.

About Travel
5 questions
Do I need a visa for Guatemala?
No. US passport holders can enter Guatemala visa-free for up to 90 days. You only need a valid US passport (valid for at least 6 months beyond your travel dates) and a return flight ticket. No visa application, no advance paperwork, no consulate appointment required.
How long will treatment take — how many days do I need?
This varies significantly by procedure:

Single implant: 3–5 days (placement + healing check). Note: full osseointegration takes 3–6 months; final crown placement may require a second trip.
Multiple implants: 5–8 days depending on complexity.
All-on-4: 7–12 days for placement, temporary teeth, and healing assessment. Final prosthetics typically placed on a second trip 4–6 months later.
Veneers or crowns (6–10): 3–5 days.
Full mouth restoration: 10–14 days, often split across two trips.

We build your full itinerary around your specific treatment plan, including buffer days for recovery and flexibility.
Can I bring someone with me?
Absolutely — and many patients do. A partner, spouse, or family member coming along can actually make the trip more comfortable, especially during recovery days. Guatemala is a genuinely wonderful place to visit, and your companion will have plenty to do while you're at the clinic.

We can help arrange accommodations, activities, and logistics for a travel companion as part of our coordination service.
What airlines fly direct to Guatemala?
United, American, Delta, and Avianca all operate regular service to La Aurora International Airport (GUA) in Guatemala City. Direct flights are available from Houston (~2.5 hrs), Miami (~3 hrs), Dallas (~3.5 hrs), Atlanta (~3 hrs), and Los Angeles (~4.5 hrs). New York has connecting options (~5 hrs total).

We guide you through flight selection and help identify the best options for your schedule and budget as part of our Signature and Elite packages.
Is it safe to travel to Guatemala?
Yes, within the areas we operate. Like any country, Guatemala has areas with higher and lower risk. We operate exclusively in Antigua Guatemala and Zone 10 (Zona Viva) of Guatemala City — both of which are well-established tourist and business districts with a strong security presence and decades of international visitor traffic.

We advise patients honestly on where to stay, where to go, and what to avoid. Our coordinators know these areas personally. We don't send patients somewhere we wouldn't go ourselves.

Health & Safety
5 questions
What medical conditions might prevent treatment?
Certain conditions require careful consideration before proceeding: uncontrolled diabetes, blood thinners or anticoagulant medications, active cancer treatment, recent cardiac events (heart attack or major surgery within 6 months), and severe osteoporosis.

None of these are automatic disqualifiers — many patients with these conditions receive treatment safely with the right planning. But full disclosure is essential. Tell us everything on your intake form. We'll advise honestly, and the clinic will make a medically informed recommendation. If the answer is "not right now," we'll say so.
What happens if I have a dental emergency during my trip?
You contact us immediately. Every patient has direct WhatsApp access to their coordinator. Elite package patients have a 24/7 emergency on-call line. Signature and Essential patients have business-hours support with an emergency escalation protocol.

Our partner clinics are aware of every patient in-country and can address dental emergencies same-day. We also have relationships with medical facilities in both Guatemala City and Antigua if non-dental medical care is needed. You are never on your own.
Do clinics offer sedation?
Local anesthesia is standard for all procedures — you will not feel pain during treatment. Some partner clinics also offer conscious sedation (oral sedation or IV sedation) for patients with dental anxiety or those undergoing longer procedures — discuss this need during your intake and we'll ensure you're matched with a clinic that can accommodate it.

Full general anesthesia is available at select clinic partners for complex cases. This is arranged in advance and involves an additional cost.
Should I get travel insurance?
Yes — we recommend it for all patients. Standard travel insurance that covers trip cancellation and interruption is a good starting point. But the coverage we'd most encourage you to prioritize is medical evacuation coverage — the ability to be medically transported back to the US if needed. This is relatively inexpensive and provides meaningful peace of mind.

We don't endorse specific insurance providers, but we can share what categories of coverage to look for when you're comparing policies.
What if my case turns out to be more complex than expected?
The clinic will communicate any changes in scope before proceeding — and only proceed with your explicit agreement. You are never committed to a treatment or cost without your knowledge and consent.

If additional needs are discovered (for example, unexpected bone loss requiring a graft before implant placement), the clinic will explain what's needed, what it costs, and what your options are. You can choose to proceed, defer the additional work, or decline. Your coordinator is available throughout to help you understand the situation and make an informed decision.
